Personal Social and Emotional Development

This activity will help to prepare your child for the transition to Year 1

Start by asking your child “What good things can you remember from this year?”

Allow them to share their experiences of the school year.

Then ask “What are you looking forward to in Year 1?”

Pose the question “What targets have you achieved this year?” (you can help them relate this to reading, writing, maths or other personal targets)

Ask “What is one thing would you like to do better next year?”

You might like to create a poster or something similar with the goal for Year 1 so they can reflect on it throughout next year.
