This is your last week as a member of Reception as when you return to school you will be in Year 1!
If you need any ideas to keep occupied during the summer holidays, scroll through the previous blog posts and see what takes your fancy or you can access the Sumdog maths resources online.
Please take a look at the thinking and talking task to the left for some ideas to help get ready for the transition to a new year.
Thinking and Talking Task
Transition to Year 1
This is a very important time of year for Reception as they will soon be moving out of the Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1.
Usually, in school we could have had time to begin this transition, meet the new teacher and spend time in the new classroom.
Unfortunately, this has been unable to happen so please spend the next few weeks helping your child to prepare for the return to school.
You could ask them:
If they have any fears/worries about returning
What they are more looking forward to next year?
What is something they would like to learn in Year 1?
What do they think will be the same as Reception and what will be different?
These discussions can uncover any hidden anxieties your child may have so that you can work to resolve them and make sure the transition is as comfortable as possible.
Please also watch Miss Wood’s video so your children know who their new teacher will be.
If you have any questions, concerns or queries please email firstname.lastname@example.org and I will make sure they are answered as soon as possible for youu!
At St. John the Divine Primary School we value parents contributions to their child’s learning.
We regularly update our ‘Wow Wall’ with examples of these special learning moments from parents. The children love sharing these with their class.
