READING

For reading are listening to the audio story – The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling

Today and this weekend try to finish the whole book so we can move to another one from Monday.

Keep a notebook while listening to the reading. Make notes about new vocabulary you can look up later – new words in the text or other powerful words, adjectives, similes etc that you can then use in your writing, including the school memories in the Literacy task above.

Thursday 2nd July – Year 6 Home Learning

Dear all

It was good to see so many of you yesterday at our online session. I hope you have started using the notes of the things we discussed and you are working on them. It was good to work together as a class to refresh and improve our maths and other skills and to continue reflecting on and preparing for the transition to secondary school. We hope to be able to have another session next week.

As today is the last day of term, I suggest you work on a creative activity making something that you can keep and that will remind you of your primary school time. What could it be?

Maybe you can use card and other materials to make a model of the school logo, or a poster of activities we do in primary school or make a poster with portraits of your teachers or class mates.

Thursday 23rd July 2020 – Year 6 Home Learning

Dear all

It was so good to see you all yesterday in church for your leavers’ service. All adults present commented about how they enjoyed listening to you sharing your experiences of primary school.

I have taken some photographs of those who read and others while receiving the Bible gift from Mrs Warland. We are happy to email them to you if your parents would like an electronic copy of them. If so they can send an email to admin@sjtdprimary.org.uk

Today add a few more details and then paint and decorate.

Yesterday we said that one of the Year 6 topics for the Summer term at our school is ‘Discovering London’

Have you done your research about London? What were your three interesting facts about London?

Today and tomorrow I though we’ll be a bit creative and try to use our design and technology skills to make a model of a London Ladmark.

Have a look at the picture below. Choose one you think you can make out of card and other materials. Start working on collecting and cutting all the different parts to size and find some glue or tape to put them together to form your model.

Tomorrow you will then add a few more details and decorate.

Today I thought we’ll focus on some more research about London. Your task is to make an online search and find out three interesting facts about London, this big city we live in. It would be interesting then to find some time to share these facts.
