Friday 21st March 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we have recognised Nerodiversity Celebration Week, a worldwide inititative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. We linked this to our Collective Worship and to our Assessment Week writing task, writing about how we can make our little corner of Camberwell more inclusive in celebrating differences and empowering individuals. The children wrote wonderful reports that highlighted how accepting we are as a school and how well we look out for, and look after each other.
We also held the much anticipated Spelling Bee. As always, the children all want to take part and they are desperate to be crown the Spelling Champ. I can now reveal this term’s winners, the Spelling Champs and the House winners from each event. Well done to everyone who took part.

In other news, Class photographs were taken this week. Please be reminded that individual and sibling photographs are being taken this coming Monday 24th March 2025. The photographer starts prompt at 9am to ensure that they can get through everyone in the time they have. Do please make sure your child arrives on time, in their very best uniform for your photos.
This week we have sent further paperwork to the OSA in a bid to save our school. We have no doubt that once the OSA had read through the material he will be in touch regarding the next steps. We are not sure how long this will take. Do please keep our fight in your prayers!
Below is a summary of the learning that has taken place across the school this week.
Early Years | ||
We have had a great week in Early Years! We were very busy preparing for our fundraising event, which was a success! We designed our own bookmarks to sell for £1 and made posters to advertise the event, which we put around the school. We’ve also been working hard on our writing and phonics assessments this week. Well done to everyone for their hard work!
Year One | ||
We have had a week of working hard in Year One. As it was assessment week we completed reading, writing and maths assessments to the best of our ability and we also took part in the KS1 Spelling Bee! This week was Neurodiversity week and we really enjoyed learning about the importance of inclusion and how we can celebrate each others differences. We wrote fantastic reports on the importance of inclusion and how we can help others to feel included in our school.
Year Two | ||
This week Year Two have been busy and working extremely hard during assessment week. In RE, we created artwork which focuses on the importance of the cross in the Easter story. In Science, we learnt about constellations and galaxies. Furthermore, we made models of these constellations. In English, we wrote fantastic non-chronological reports about Inclusion to celebrate Neurodiversity Week.
Year Three | Year Four | |
This week, Year Three practised, then practised more and finally staged our class assembly. We all learned our lines and tried to deliver them loudly, clearly and with the right attitude for our roles. We also showed off our recorder skills – thank you, Mrs Murphy! Great job, everyone! On Wednesday, we had a trial run of our hula hooping, ahead of our sponsored event for the Lent Appeal. We will be hooping on Monday, March 31st, so please sponsor us as generously as you can. | In Year Four this week we have been trying our best during the assessments, learning about the art piece “The descent from the cross” related to Easter, remembering the story of Jesus during that time and the important values he showed to others like loyalty and forgiveness. We also enjoyed our trip to the “Chelsea physic garden” where the children explored plants and trees with medicinal properties, from other habitats.
Year Five | ||
Assessment Week has flown by this week with the children showing great attitudes to tackling their assessments and endeavouring to try their best. Well done, Year Five. In RE, we have continued to learn about Easter, looking at Holy Saturday and Easter Day. In Science, we have planned an air resistance investigation and carried out some preliminary results which the children thoroughly enjoyed. In Connected Curriculum, we continued looking at what features houses have such as solar panels and recycling water systems in a sustainable village.
Year Six | ||
The children in Year Six showed off their learning this week, completing all assessment tasks set for them to the best of their ability. They even completed a science test. Alongside this, the children continued to learn about the importance of Eatser to Christians and the Stations of the Cross.
