SAFEGUARDING STATEMENT

The Governors and staff of St John the Divine Church of England Primary School are fully committed to safeguarding all of the children who belong to the school community. The school recognises its legal and moral duty to promote the well-being of children, protect them from harm, and respond to child abuse.

Parents and carers expect the school to provide a safe, secure and caring environment in which their children can flourish. To meet this expectation, the school implements a wide range of measures and policies, these include:

The School’s Safeguarding Policies draw upon upon duties conferred by the Children Acts 1989 and 2004, The Children and Families Act 2014, S175 of the 2002 Education Act, The Education (Independent School Standards) Regulations 2015 (for independent schools), and the guidance contained in “Working Together to Safeguard Children”, the DfE’s statutory guidance “Keeping children safe in education” updated 1st September 2022, Ofsted Guidance and procedures produced by the London Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) and the Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB).

We also have regard to the advice contained in DfE’s “What to do if you’re worried a child is being abused” and “Information Sharing – Advice for practitioners”.
